Mahli Chito Privacy Policy

Overview

Mahli Chito is a U.S. weather and radar app operated by Quest NGT / NOE LLC. It provides local weather, contiguous-U.S. radar playback, Storm Prediction Center context, rain planning, and weather alerts. This policy explains what data Mahli Chito uses, why it is used, and how to contact us.

Data we use

• Precise location: Used to show local weather, center the radar map, find nearby observation stations and alerts, and provide location-aware forecast details.
• Device identifiers: Used for app functions such as push notification delivery, background refresh support, diagnostics, and reliability.
• Advertising and consent data: The free, ad-supported experience may use Google AdMob. Google may process identifiers, device and app information, approximate location from IP address, ad interactions, diagnostics, and consent choices to serve ads, measure performance, prevent fraud, and comply with privacy laws.
• Optional ad-performance analytics: If you enable Share Ad Performance with Google, Firebase Analytics processes app activity, advertising interactions and revenue, device and app information, an app-instance identifier, and approximate location derived from IP address for analytics. This setting is off by default and is separate from Mahli Chito diagnostics and AdMob privacy choices. Our Analytics integration does not enable advertising identifiers, advertising storage, or advertising user-data/personalization consent.
• Weather and radar requests: Our systems may process request details such as the selected map area or weather location, radar product, timestamps, IP address, error logs, and app/backend diagnostics to keep the service reliable and secure.
• Website support: Reports are stored in the same private backend inbox as app feedback, with your selected topic, message, timestamp, website platform, and random receipt. No email address is requested. Please do not include personal information. To limit abuse, the server keeps short-lived keyed hashes of network addresses and submission counters; these expire within 24 hours. Hosting and server security logs may process IP addresses. Facebook links open Facebook, whose own privacy policy applies.
• In-app feedback: If you submit feedback, our backend stores the message, its category, app version and build, platform, and a random submission receipt. The submission does not include your email address, account, location, saved places, push token, device identifier, advertising identifier, or anonymous-diagnostics queue. Please do not include personal information in the message.

How we use data

We use data to provide app functionality, improve reliability, diagnose errors, protect the service, keep weather and radar information current, and support the free app experience with ads. We do not sell personal data. Users with an active ad-free subscription do not receive banner ad placements in the app.

Data sources and service providers

Mahli Chito uses weather and radar information from public weather sources, including NOAA, the National Weather Service, NEXRAD, the Storm Prediction Center, and the Weather Prediction Center where applicable. It also uses Apple platform services such as the App Store and Apple Push Notification service. The free experience uses Google AdMob and Google's User Messaging Platform for ads, measurement, fraud prevention, and consent management. Firebase Analytics provides the separately optional ad-performance measurement described above.

Ad choices

Where required, Mahli Chito shows Google consent or privacy options before requesting ads. You can manage available ad choices inside the app when Google requires that option. You can also subscribe to the ad-free experience to remove banner ads.

You can turn Share Ad Performance with Google off in the app's Settings. Doing so stops future Analytics collection and resets the app-instance Analytics identifier on that device; it does not erase data already processed by Google. Subscribing to ad-free and choosing optional Analytics are separate settings.

Location permission

You control location access in iOS Settings. If location access is disabled, parts of the app that depend on your current location may be limited or may require manually selected weather and radar context.

For location-aware notifications and Live Activities, our backend receives your latest reported device coordinates, their timestamp and accuracy, enabled alert preferences, and the push tokens needed to deliver updates. Saved weather locations are registered separately when enabled for alerts. Browsing a different forecast does not replace your device's reported location.

If you choose background location updates and grant the necessary iOS permission, significant location changes may refresh that latest position while the app is not open. This feature stores the latest reported fix, not a travel history. Live Activities require a recent device location. Warning notifications may refer to your last reported location until a new fix is available; a stale-location notice explains that your current position may differ. You can manage location access in iOS Settings and customise or disable notification categories, Live Activities and saved-place alerts in the app.

Retention

Operational logs and diagnostic data are kept only as long as needed for reliability, security, troubleshooting, and service operation. In-app feedback and website support reports are retained for up to 365 days. Push notification identifiers may be kept while needed to deliver app functionality and may be removed when no longer useful or upon request where technically feasible.

Children

Mahli Chito is not directed to children. The app provides weather and radar information for general severe-weather awareness.

Weather safety notice

Weather data can change rapidly and may be delayed, incomplete, or unavailable. Mahli Chito is not a replacement for official National Weather Service warnings, local emergency management instructions, or trusted broadcast guidance during dangerous weather.
